I can see why kendrick puts this as his least fav album tbh.

He prolly views it the way ye views mbdtf

They’re the same album in a very specific sense imo. Main artist putting together a mega dream team to make a one work of art greater than anyone them solo.

I think TPAB is a more important work and better personally tho

Best album of the 2010s period

Dark Fantasy is still my rap goat personally, but you can't go wrong with Good Kid Maad City or TPAB 🤷‍♂️

    Wym its too perfect?

too perfect + the process while making this album you can tell was probably a lot of pain and stress with the passing of his friend and all the dealings with fame at that time.

He said during DAMN that his top 3 was DAMN, GKMC, and then TPAB.

I think if you asked him today what his personal favorite album of his, he'd say Mr. Morale.

the way the damn album reception was man I was IN THE TRENCHES on ktt1 when "nO BaNgErS" was a constant critique about the album.

  • that "we got some work to do" tweet aint come out of thin air. Some niggas really had to sit on that album.

TPAB might be one of the greatest growers we've ever seen in music. That s*** was as big of a left as you can make as an artist.

Seeing TPAB reaction in real time is why Mr. Morale's reaction never phased me.

by 2030, lotta niggas gon' "come back" to that album like

And Knxwledge said kendrick just heard the beat at a photoshoot man.

    that is f***ing insane.

  • being a politically cynical, tad depressed, black ass jazz kid, this album and tracks like For Free and For Sale and
Blacker The Berry was like a goddamn fever dream man.

ending of Blacker The Berry one of the greatest moments of the album man.

Yeah i can see him placing MMBS as his favorite or GKMC

  • Speaking about that DAMN era interview where he ranks DAMN above the rest. His reasoning was that he felt like he didn't leave enough open for interpretation on GKMC and TPAB. I gotta agree with that, I think the end of mortal man is too on the nose.

I’m using term the same very loosely tbh lmao bc I really only mean in a smaller sense of their intensely collaborative nature, their subsequent larger than life impact/held weight in the genre and extreme high quality.

I could also say they both sought to go for a singular maximalist vision (with more emphasis on collaboration than usual to make this happen, with an anything and anyone goes type spirit in the recordings) by any means possible even tho their goals were completely different

These two albums I hear and think wow the musicianship is really on display in every single detail of the album. They both standout to a crazy extent in the genre. Also similar in how they aren’t like much else in hip hop as a whole and reception wise they’re a lot of “rap sucks but this is amazing” type peoples fav hip hop albums

Idk it’s something that’s hard to explain on KTT sorry for rambling but in my mind they’re similar (to an extent)

  • Unforgivable

The alternative live version of i made me like the song a lot more

    fact
