Yeah thats where this s*** became 10x more nasty than it was (it was already kinda nasty begore tho)

At some point that channel became so f***ing huge that it wasnt sk digging everywhere to get a story anymore, it was niggas doing wild stupid s*** to get a hit video on that channel

Yes lmfao, they would even mention his name on their videos too

I dont think Keef was helped by Ak like that early on but a lot of the niggas in that scene 100% were

Niggas like Fredo Santana, G Herbo, Durk, Reese, etc. were helped in a lot of ways by Ak career wise

I think Herbo and Keef even out right said that he was a big factor for their scene growth

But at the end of the day he was being an a****** and a coon in that s*** so no points for him l’there lol

True but it was a combination of things

Yeah that nigga is a complete lame tbh but he did a lot of things for this new era of hip hop so thats why I give him respect for that

Like his whole business strategy back then was to cover smaller more meme type artists like they were Drake or Kanye...and as niggas like Thug, Uzi, Kodak, etc. blew tf up so did he

donald glover put on thug before AK even was famous

this site really started listening to music in 2016

    Donald glover?

Ppl will kill u for this but its true

Complex, Pitchfork, etc. didnt give niggas like Thug any light and Ak was one of the only ones reporting on him and using his f***ery to get views

Complex ran a huge piece about Thug in 2014

  • May 9, 2020

I dont have a strong opinion on akademiks but him using thugs name to raise his audience and profile does not equate to significantly raising thugs profile. Thug was all over blogs and forums in 2014. Ak was just one of the outlets to pick him up.

All of it, he promoted him and the first interview he gave him made him known and accepted in mainstream rap

Idk about Thug but he definitely helped xxx A LOT

100% He was the only one covering all the bullshit Young Thug was dong when he was coming up and basically irrelevant, most media probably wanted to blackball him but AK was bombarding YouTube and IG with Young Thugs every move

  • May 9, 2020
    Durag Jesus

Akademiks was the one reporting young thug f***ery back in the day

Same with what happened in the Chicago scene

These kids don’t know nothing, AK was relevant before Young Thug and at the sane time they grew together

  • May 9, 2020

Back in 2014 hip hop media was still focused on niggas like Schoolboy Q and Vince Staples until AK started curating what Young kids actually listen to mind you he was young back then too like 22-23

Saying hes responsible for thugs succes should be a bannable offense

    Yeah ban this dude

  • AK is a part of the reason why the SC era was what it was. Also the Chiraq drill scene. He’s partially responsible for 69’s success.

Currently tho 69 is on a whole nother level.

    Think this says enough, no?

    This really is amazing

  • May 9, 2020

Ak didn’t make 6ix9ine but their relationship is mutually beneficially to what they both represent

I remember Ak doing that interview with him in the diner and in general he’s the one who kinda inspired all these IG hip hop blogs so if he’s d***riding and getting hella engagement everyone else will

But with all the antics it likely would have gone up regardless

  • May 9, 2020

Ak has built an empire off making content out of the destruction within his community. He plays a part in all this toxic s*** being successful.
