Donda's a fantastic album but I really, really f*** with the sound on CLB

I don't think that Kanye is not liked, it's the narrative which he wants to enforce, but he is just not an outcast or outsider, dude sold out stadiums 3 times in one month to play some demos.
His music is different, this is not Graduation, many songs seem to have an unfinished structure, and generally Donda has this atmosphere of an experiment, people are crazy enough for Kanye, so Kanye reached some great Spotify milestones, but CLB is way more traditional, it's impossible to battle it with some experimental album.

I think the reason why Kanye is losing to Drake because Drake gives people exactly what they want, he even uses the same tricks but they work.
Kanye knows what people want from him, tracks like Believe What I Say, Life of a Party, Jesus Lord, I mean complete songs where he spits over some samples, but he tries to beat Drake while not giving public what it wants.

And he’ll never outsell him that way. And that’s fine. I think at some point an artist of his caliber needs to stop worrying about selling a ton if they’re not making the cookie cutter stuff anymore

I agree with you even back then with TLOP when Kanye was ranting about stations playing For Free instead of his songs, but Kanye himself doesn't make songs like that.

Kanye fans will say Donda better Drake fans will say CLB is better, I understand not liking either albums too. This drake and Kanye beef is just getting weird at this point like we can’t listen to the music anymore without comparing and I understand that’s hip hop and that’s what these guys want to kind of do but the theatre of it all gets tiresome. Congrats to Kanye for making an album that his fans love and congrats to drake for being as consistent even if people don’t think the album is up to par with donda. Drake clearly be doing something right all these years if he can compete with Ye like this

Most of this post is the right energy until the end. Drake isn't competing with Ye...he's already way beyond him, and Ye is the one trying to compete with him.

I understand drake is beyond Kanye at this point, I guess when it comes to a ‘legacy’ Kanye will always be seen as the guy with the upper hand and I think drake wants that too. We will see, I get your point I feel like drake doesn’t need to compete with ye but it always feels like that because the comparisons between them go on and on. Only thing Kanye has on drake is money. But he’s like what 10 yrs older? and has his infamous yeezy brand that retail at 200 and ppl go nuts for. he used to make good music. I haven’t enjoyed anything from ye since the ye album tbh. Idk why ye cares if he doesn’t care bout music like that… drake is more for music, ye is more for fashion. Drake makes better hits. Ye is just a good producer. I don’t get the argument here between them…

I know you didn’t ask me, but here’s my subjective opinion as someone who loves both (but takes the side of Drake in this insanely dumb beef)

Donda has higher highs but CLB is more consistent. Donda has better production. CLB has better lyrics. Both albums could benefit from just being the best 17 tracks. Neither project is winning over new fans but that’s fine. These are albums for their die hards.
