Has alot changed? Like even John Boyega recently called out the racism he faced and lack of promo from Disney.
Black Panther was one of the biggest films in history and faced issues promoting in China because of them being black.
The world really hasn't changed people just say it has which is why we prolly won't see a black bond,female bond or gay actor playing bond for awhile.

It can still be serious with the charisma and charm of connery which would work perfectly in today's era. I was under the impression they wanted to find someone young and lowkey and build him from the ground up so the hardy selection doesn't really make sense to me.
