i could never rank them honestly, half cus i flip flop a lot on my favorite top ones and half cus i love a lot of individual songs, esp 70s waits outside of blue valentine, more than certain albums and projects. And tbh i still need to go through all of his late 90s/early 2000s material before i’m speaking w authority. i will say i think Bone Machine is still my favorite overall but depending on time of year n how i’m feeling sometimes i fall in love with his 80s stuff all over again. I never feel confident saying any specific one

i’m curious though how do you feel about Bad as Me in his discog? i have a special love for that project and the attention to it around its release partially got me into him. I still love it a lot no matter how much deep discog stuff i go through

havnt listened in a while, some good songs and cool video but some cookie cutter production kinda took me off, nice to hear his son playing on it tho! im assuming it wil be his last album

wanna relisten to that soundtrack he did for that other movie too no one talks about

i love bone machine so much cus of how perfectly i feel like he executes and balances the slower ballads and the wonkier experimental stuff. It’s like they work to serve each other and strengthen each other, maybe more than any other waits album in that respect (by the time That Feel hits ). And the in your face dark themes n sounds are right up my alley. songs like The Ocean Doesnt Want Me are so perfect in that way, even though he’s touched on sounds like that on like 9th and Hennepin i love his execution on BM with them

I agree on the production on some of bad as me though. I think when it’s strong it’s excellent like Hell Broke Luce, Chicago, Bad as Me but it’s def not perfect. And i have some amazing news for u
