the strokes were derivative. yeah, they were good, but what they did was nothing new or unique. if i want to listen to music like theirs, i would listen to the velvet underground or television instead, who did the same type of music during the 1960s and 1970s, but better. gang gang dance's music was new, unique, and forward-thinking.
