In the summer of 2022, Drake was preparing for his annual OVO Fest. He had an idea for a special show called “All Canadian North Stars” that would feature artist who had laid the foundation for hip-hop and R&B in Canada: Kardinal Offishall, Keshia Chanté, K-OS. Drake personally wanted Desman for the show. He asked DJ Starting from Scratch to call Desman and make the pitch.

“Drake sent me a great message saying he was proud of me,” Desman says. “He told me he was happy I listened to him and the crowd that night.”
