I hate living here
Smells like charred wood just going outside
Oh yesterday I hadn't watched the news and I literally thought it was my neighbor's meeting barbecue until I started smelling that barbecue everywhere I drove after lol

I havent smelled much but i was driving to work with my windows down yesterday and my throat has been irritated since
LMAO why bro ?
The winter is like 7 months. So u get seasonally depressed.
The cost of living is insane, like 3k for a one bedroom rent.
The is no sense of community at all.
Worst traffic in the world as of 2023
Everyone is fake af and transactional, good luck dating here if ur single. I'm not thankfully.
Idk hiw to explain it bro, everyone is an acquaintance.
I can go on and on. I'm Turkish and when I go to istanbul I feel so f***ing alive. The city is alive. Toronto is dead.
You wanna go somewhere to eat? Minimum spending 100$ and an hour in traffic.
I have a bysiness and it makes about a 100k a year and I'm still struggling. If I move to istanbul I'd be living lime a millionaire. Im thinking of spending winters in Europe now.
bramalee
i miss guycody but he crazy now...

Damn
Can you go into greater detail on how Toronto feels dead vs Istanbul feeling alive?

Sure. To give you idea, when foreigners think of Toronto, they think downtown. That is basically Toronto. And half of those blocks now are gull of homeless tents and tweakers.
The rest of Toronto bro, it literally longggggg streets of houses over and over. All look the same. It's like dystopian suburbia. In between these bland homes are plazas. So majority of the greater Toronto area is depressing looking houses for rows and rows and a plaza every 5 km.
Did I mention those houses boomers bought for 100k and are now selling for 1.5 million. Imagine paying 1.5 mil to live in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
Toronto is the city of loneliness. If you aren't downtown is even worse . Canada's population is only 35 million so it feels empty. Going on walks even I barely see young people outside. Just retired people on walks. And in the winter lol? Good luck.
We are a diverse city, and have restaurants from all different counries, yet the flavor and the food is so mid, and hit or miss. It almost feels like a parody if the real thing.
Toronto is a city of acquaintances. If you don't have childhood friends like me, it's hard to make friends here. People just don't commit. Dating is even worse lol. Even girls have given up. People are all too busy surviving.
Have tou heard the 2010s Toronto music sound lol? The original sound, like Take Care, Trilogy, pnd etc. Its a melancholy moody sound. Lol there's a reason the best dark rnb album ever made was made here (house of balloons).
Hope that helps, idk it feels like we have no solid identity, or real culture. It's the city of dead dreams. The downtown areas that were rough used to attract a lot of musicians and artists in the early 2010s, there was a real young culture in the city. With home pricing skyrocketing to the highest in the world here, all that talent that used to be here can't afford to live here and left too. Been worse after that. There isn't much history here either. It's a young af grey city.
Crabs in a bucket mentality. People backstabbing always worried abkut the next dollar or hiw to one up someone and pass them. Look at the rap scene, which doesn't even exiT anymore basically. Because thry all killed each other off.
Istanbul is alive man. Istanbul used to be called Constantinople. The history alone there makes it so.you FEEL the culture. Everywhere you look there is history and culture.
The pace if life is fast in the city, and it never sleeps. You can walk down Taksim square at 3am and you'll see young people still out having a blast. In Toronto at 3 am if I'm drunk I'm trying to not get robbed.
The food I'm not exaggerating is amazing in Istanbul too. Everywhere I went was amazing. Local produce Everywhere.
The girls are hot af too lol in my opinion. They are mad different than Toronto. tings. I'm Turkish myself so maybe I'm biased. They just are more real and less games.
Imagine taking a girl to the CN Tower in Toronto vs taking her to a palace that's 1500 years old. The people in general.are also very open and friendly in Istanbul. It's so easy to make friends. A stranger who's bow a Good friend one time let me stay at his cottage free, because he met me at a restaurant there for one night randomly. This openness and unity makes the city feel more alive, more full, less hollow. Less cliques. Toronto is all people hanging out in cliques of their own and never being open to new people.
