That's not the smoking gun they think it is and is wasn't mentioned because it's not conclusive. If you know anything about ballistics and if they really shot in that vehicle then there'd be gun residue on everyone because it spreads around easily. Anyone in close range will have it to so gun residue is only used to confirm a shooting happened but not who fired a gun if there's multiple people involved.
