What this likely means is that police f***ed up the chain of custody and probably actually lost it.
In the trial they'll have ample opportunity to confirm that bullet fragments came out of her foot if she was shot

Was trying to remember if she ever explicitly stated there were fragments being surgically removed before because it sounded familiar.
Also, doesnât this just mean that they have yet to possess those (alleged from this picture and Meg) fragments? Like, securely collected them at this time. As in, they exist but are not presentable at the moment? I donât think this means sheâs lying as people might interpret it as, but itâs very interesting.
If she had surgery to remove fragments which she stated happened. The hospital has a responsibility to collect the bullet fragments and report the findings to the police regardless of the situation. U canât show up to a hospital with bullet wounds and them not report it and hand over the evidence. The detective in the case admits nothing was recovered at the scene or at the hospital.

I think itâs safe to say a gun was fired - by whom will be up to debate.
However, the real question is what caused the injury on her leg. The hospital records will clarify this. If bullet fragments were recovered (which the detective admits wasnât) this kind of aligns with the original glass story makes this a very difficult case to prove that Tory âshot Meg.â The entire case rides on this.
Tory could be guilty but thinking heâs guilty is not enough. The trial is all about what you can prove and right now nothing adds up.

where are the initial reports bullet fragments were recovered and reported to law enforcement? Shouldn't there be some paper trail/record from the medics that handled meg's foot the night of the incident? did they lose those records as well?

Forget about Meg and Tory. If anyone shows up to the hospital and needs surgery to remove bullet fragments the hospital has to follow a strict guidelines.
They have to keep detailed records of everything and report everything if they suspect a crime has been committed. They also need detail records in case they f*** up the surgery and get sued.
