Those right wing talking points gonna become the talking points of these rappers who have done dumb s*** but want to defend themselves instead of apologize

Actually, researchers have been deeming "cancel culture" isn't a real thing lately:

    https://hotair.com/headlines/2021/07/23/the-end-of-cancel-culture-n404158

The firm Morning Consult polled a range of Americans about their views on cancel culture, looking at different generational cohorts: Generation Z (Americans born in the years 1997 through 2008), millennials (1981 through 1996), Generation X (1965 through 1980), and the baby boomers (1946 through 1964). Of course, polls should not be treated as definitive on their own, as they are imperfect snapshots in time, and opinions can certainly change.

*Nevertheless, this new data is a hopeful indication that cancel culture may have peaked. Overall, cancel culture is quite unpopular among all cohorts, with each generation viewing it more negatively than positively. Millennials appeared to be most supportive of cancel culture: 19 percent said they had a positive view of it, while 22 percent were neutral, 36 percent were opposed to it, and 22 percent said they had no opinion.&

Perhaps surprisingly, given its progressive leanings and similar social and political beliefs to the millennial generation, Gen Z was the cohort most opposed to cancel culture: 55 percent said they had a negative view of cancel culture, 8 percent were supportive of it, 18 percent were neutral, and 19 percent had no opinion. Moreover, it’s the youngest cohort within Gen Z—currently ages 13 to 16—who are most opposed to cancel culture, with 59 percent having a negative view of it. That number falls to 48 percent for the oldest cohort within Gen Z—ages 21 through 24.

holy s*** i’m shocked at those gen z numbers. disappointed in my fellow millennials tho smh

Yeah imma try to find it but like the thing he said about damson women wearing certain types of lipstick was him trying to that makeup companies don’t cater to darker skin tones or something.

Not only that but in that same interview in 2013 he also mentioned what lipsticks he don’t think white or lighter skinned women should wear either. But they been making him seem like a colorist ever since. I think that goes with Torys point on the selective outrage

Ellen DeGeneres and Chrissy Teigen been cancelled lately though

  • Jul 28, 2021

How is cancel culture not real? If it's the same small group of people on Twitter "tweeting the same s***" and then your employer fires you OR you get blacklisted from playlists on Spotify; How is that not real?

Feel like this talking point is dumb as s*** because it prevents us from taking a real look at how we treat each other online as people. How we're not empathetic or willing to examine things in context or recognizing people's growth.

There's threads on this site talking about "How hasn't this person been cancelled?" What's not real about it?

Edit: I'm not defending Tory either, but this is a dumb point to me.

It only exists for those who people really hate.

    R kelly

    Cosby

    69

    Kevin spacey

The only reason they still exist is cause they kept their money giving fan base and had enough money stashed to stay alive.

R Kelly was the only guy who ran out of money.

  • Maga Law

    I mean his is correct

Tory's numbers are just about the same as always

They just took him off playlist

the crazy part is his numbers would actually be higher if playlists didn't take him off, and the only reason they did that was cuz he independent, if he was signed Spotify is not taking him off.

All people exposed, shamed, and fired, and for good reason. Don’t know how you can say it doesn’t exist or that it’s all bad. It doesn’t exist the way people have it in their minds but that s***s real. These companies want to use the social media medium to advertise, and if they want to be able to use that than they’re subject to the mob. Some s***s definitely gone too far like bringing up tweets from the teenage years of a newly drafted athlete, but some of this s***s been spot on.

how his album sales going compared to 2 years ago 🤔

As someone who is independent, with no playlisting etc he’s doing fairly well since ALL THAT MONEY GOES TO HIM… especially since he co directs, produces and edits all his music videos

I agree with that, they are just using it but its crazy how growing up left wing we had anti establishment ideals and were highly into critical thinking but now its turned the opposite, they are basically just playing us all
