None of us were there, but they were clearly drunk and s*** happens. 10 years is absurd, despite him being a pathological liar throughout the whole ordeal. If it was attempted murder or a shot at a vital organ or body part perhaps I'd agree with you.
Anyway, I bet the thing that's dragging on Megan's mind is the harrassment overtime, not her getting shot at her foot
But he's not going to do 10 years, realistically.
So the number he actually does end up doing will probably be justified, I think.

Guns are not toys. When you pull the trigger of a gun, and the bullets hit someone, all bets are off.
I'm definitely empathetic about the situation though. It's pretty clear that all parties involved didn't think (at least initially) that it was going to go this far, but it is what it is.
