This album keeps on growing for me still to this day. I’m really not a big fan of their most recent LP The Car despite similarities but TBHC just does everything right. People who feel like they notice the “album experience” becoming more of a rarity ever since the streaming era and still haven’t listened to this should def give it a chance
Alex Turner is one of the GOAT writers and TBHC is imo his peak. He’s poetic, but in a clever non try hard way that also really goes along well with his whole laid back vocal delivery
The concept of the album is great too and is filled with a lot of cool easter eggs especially if you’re also into cinema. Speaking of that this album era is when the Arctic Monkeys really stepped up their game when it comes to the music videos and how they capture the aesthetic of the album perfectly
A misunderstood magnum opus that will only get more love as time goes on. An album full of mystique and nostalgia that i’ve grown to love so much that i had to do it one time and type out all this bs
Some of my standout joints

great album but I like The Car a lot more
I feel like TBHC had a much bolder direction and really knew what it wanted to be and then took it even further. The Car also sounds cinematic and has a similar Alex Turner vocal wise but for me it lacks all the character TBHC has, so in turn that makes The Car sound like one long song to me rather than just being a cohesive body of work in the positive sense
I still do love some tracks off there, especially Sculptures of Anything Goes. That track goes stupid hard
idk about greatest album of the decade but it’s AMs best album for sure
I said one of the mind you bro
Used to buy gear from this older guy in his 40s and I remember one time I was at his house at like 4am with a bunch of other old people and he was silk robed boogie nights style and he put this s*** on and he and all these older people started dancing around the kitchen and played the whole album front to back while I sat yaked and confused. I don’t really put myself in those positions anymore but being 20 was fun

Wonder if @Elric likes this album or not
could never get into these guys but that first song you posted is nice
yanks a lot of aesthetics from the band Timber Timbre, but it’s okay I guess
Good album and Arctic Monkeys are one of my favorite artists ever
But idk about best of the decade

Id really rec a front to back listen on this one when you have the time to, its a different sound from back when they first came out. More in alignment with Bowie if anything else

Might do
Tbh I saw them open for Black Keys around 2013 and they were much better than the Keys were tbh

Yeah, i think that was the first time in their career where they were an opening act but it did help them grow a lot in the US. And then came the AM album that became a pop sensation, then they proceeded to drop the album i posted about after and alienated all the new fans again
@Elric listen to batphone (second song in op) transports you to another dimension i swear. Alex Turner highkey one of the smoothest out rn to do it
Personal classic and it seems like a lot of fans have warmed up to this heavy recently which I love. Some of my favorite Alex songwriting ever and the sound is just perfect Title track, Star Treatment, Ultracheese, Four Out of Five .. so good

? What do you mean youve never seen blade runneeeeeeeer ?
The Star Treatment is such an iconic opener. I vividly remember that one really hitting on the first listen much more than the rest. Which is crazy looking back because there’s a lot more catchy tunes on the tracklist. Star Treatment is kind of out there and wild but i instantly loved it even back then

Have you ever heard Humbug ? I feel like you might like that tbh, very psych rock inspired and Alex is the perfect vehicle for it vocally

Such a perfect way to transition into the new sound too
