I refrained from listening to Morrissey's solo music because it contains controversial topics that make me uncomfortable at times. That's why I messed with Donda a little; that album was spiritual and hopeful, whereas his new one isn't. Read all of the Smiths lyrics on genius; none of them are nearly racist or hateful; otherwise, Johnny would have killed him.

But, personally, I believe that separating art from the artist is not a bad thing; I just feel more guilty listening to him than the more innocent and four-manned (3 wonderful guys) Smiths. For example, I believe Death in June is far more controversial on my list, but after going through their discography these past two weeks, it's not apparent, and it's pretty abstract to the point where I can primarily use it as instrumental music. But it's not something I'll return to like The Smiths
