    The hate comes from the fact that a few internet jokes deterred you from your natural progression as the lovechild of "ye/pharrell/cudi" archetype to instead do this "mob boss" persona.

    It's why ye starting to push GD stuff (and he always had references to knowing gang members but that's different from acting like YOU one of them) in his 40s was so jarring to long time listeners.

    The hate comes from the fact Drake at least back in the days was more interesting of a character as the lover boy/introspective rapper than this mob boss persona (which plays into the "perceived" decline of said relatability)
