Lol sitting in time out for 2 years does nothing for anyone

This initiative is materially beneficial and the sooner it comes the better because it will exist in two years as well

I’d rather artists do this than sit in the dark

Wrong. It helps Travis. Any smart celebrity knows that once you get in hot water with the general public, the best move is to disappear. Out of sight, out of mind.

Travis has already tried to donate money to families of the deceased/pay for funeral costs and he also brought up some other initiative — they all got shot down and were met with a negative reception in the public eye.

This won't be different. All anyone will see is a rapper desperate to get back into the public good graces and they'll never give him that.

The tragedy isn't even 6 months old and he's already trying to put it behind him when the families of the decased and all the other people who were affected are still dealing with the trauma of that festival.

Disappearing is a tried and true method to get back into the public's good graces. 2 years from now, so much s*** would have happened in people's lives and in the world that when Travis returns, no one will even notice or care.

Morgan Wallen got caught saying and N word and disappeared for a year. He's already back attending award shows and his songs are back on the radio (after being banned on both fronts) and no one cares because whatever he did is old news now. That's how it works.

Those attempts were bad because they were kneejerk

This seems comprehensive, well planned, and well intentioned. If it goes well, it’ll do better than any hiatus

It just got announced. If he's announced it and doesn't try to immediately jump back into the spotlight, it might work. Otherwise, it won't.

He can be working on this out of the spotlight and roll it out when he has well put together ready to go. It may or may not be received well if it tries to rush it out, though. We'll see what happens.

He’s literally doing that. He made one post announcing a comprehensive set of issues the multistage initiative is addressing. He didn’t roll out some video or some merch or interview and is actively developing the project in response to feedback and changing conditions.

    Good for him.

You could’ve just said this off rip and maybe done something productive instead of going on some long tangent because someone isn’t going into hiatus for PR and is instead doing something good

    Good for him IMO.

Honestly it's a vocal minority that is going against Travis. Look at his streaming numbers. He'll come back no problem IMO. Hope the album coming soon

If he did this two years later the only reason those people would say the exact same thing, they’re the grandparents of the victims

Of course this is huge PR stunt but it’s a valid one with solid ethics

These guys also put every morally affirming word imaginable in that statement

Good to see. Travis has ALWAYS been about giving back to his community but it’s unfortunate people are just gonna blindly write this off as a reactionary action to the tragedy and nothing else.

it is tho , and I love travis
