I think most of us trav fans can admit lots of us were too harsh on the birds era leading up to Astro, I still liked the music at the time but it hits so much more 3-4 years later now.

I think it was just the fact that we went birds -> pop feature run -> HJJH that left people super super skeptical

But now that we know what Travis was going for there and knowing it wasn’t a blind chase just makes it feel so much better when viewing his career because there was a calculation that we just overlooked

It’s a testament to Astroworld’s longevity & quality that the wait for Utopia hasn’t felt nearly as long as the wait between Birds-Astro did, despite it now being over three years

Definitive classic of the 2010s, very rare for an artist to exceed expectations as dramatically as he did on Astroworld and deliver a satisfying sequel to his debut album (and magnum opus that was Rodeo)

I think it would have been way worse without the big drops we’ve had

Donda, CLB and I’m absolutely loving Keem’s album at the moment too

Plus I’m too invested in Carti’s rollout at the moment to care for Utopia

(And we have Don next week!)

But if he does really push it to Q1 2022 I’ll be fiending for it lmao, I respect his decision nonetheless, he deserves his moment
