BRAVEThis gets precisely to what I’m saying. The superhero pop icon image stuff is what makes people want to minimize their talent. The magical talent of Jay and Bey should be undeniable to any sane person despite how some feel about their image, but people jump at the chance to minimize their talent anyway
For example; I guarantee the “you can’t deny R Kelly’s talent” rule would not be in place if he had a superhero pop icon image - his talent would be minimized like a mf
