This is a pretty cool song that I found online that blends some pretty cool trumpet playing with some really nice rapping from this guy Ric Wilson.
I don't know much about him specifically but I made this thread because I think "Trunk Music" should be a new sub-genre of "lyrical" Southern rap where it's specifically designed to BANG the sub in your car trunk.
If anyone can get behind this? From the way that I can describe it; it's basically rap that sounds like this:
(contrary to whatever Yelawolf did- he made a song called "Trunk Muzik" before but it may be KIND of a blueprint to this)
The vibe can kind of come from rap from places like Chattanooga, ATL, Alabama, NC, SC, etc.
But essentially the criteria for the song to be "Trunk Music"
I feel like Big KRIT has been doing this for a while, same with Isaiah Rashad. Does anyone else have examples?

ok dis TRUNK
iirc the texas scene was doing this in the mid 2000s in terms of the 808s being designed to thump on your car's sub. sittin sidewayz is a good example of this, bass sounds normal on headphones but in my car that s*** THUMPS
Trunk Music reminds me of some of the late 90s midwest stuff. Just a little slower and with harder drums
That's insane, LOVE the trumpets on it
that song is a sequel to this and it's hard too
this guy named Ric Wilson
Just gonna drop this one here, even tho it is less of trunk music

Feel like Houston was doing it a bit different though, they were slowwwwwed down songs with alot of synth.
Trunk Music is more like Big KRIT, Isaiah Rashad, YGTUT, etc who incorporate soul samples and give a "rugged' aesthetic off while spitting faster.
I love it though!
This is some real TRUNK s***

Yes! That's a perfect way to describe it.
These songs incorporate some very "wooden/rugged" southern country vibes to them. If that makes sense
that song is a sequel to this and it's hard too
