To me "Try Me" was and still is one of the most "prime Weeknd" songs, and one of the best songs he ever made, on par with the mixtape tracks.

Like, it's so moody, it has such an immense, -- in a "less is more" way, -- but at the same time an immense vibe, it's unhealthy.

As somebody who knows the song by heart, I don't need to play more than the first 25 seconds for me to plummet in melancholy.

PS. Abel for a limited time shared two spotify-exclusive vertical music videos for "Call Out My Name" and "Try Me". (embedded below)
I found the video on the production company's vimeo channel. (they worked in the short MDM docupoem too vimeo.com/289736452)

    BECKY HEARN/ HENRI COLLECTIVE
(in case for some reason embed doesn't work: vimeo.com/289371487)

PPS. HOLY S*** THEY DID THE "Call Out My Name" VERTICAL SPOTIFY MUSIC VIDEO TOO, I CAN'T BELIEVE I FINALLY FOUND THE HIGHEST QUALITY SOURCES OF THESE VIDS!!

Vimeo has so many gems for music videos. Is there a specific reason?

Producers/Directors post their work on there.

Those vertical videos were great, they fit the mood of the album so well

The official COMN vid is so sloppy in comparison

Do you know if there’s any reason they prefer it to YouTube?

If I had to guess it does seem to have more of a ‘professional’ vibe to it; youtube definitely seems more casual and for specific videos with the VEVO channels.

I think the content guidelines are less strict, you can upload profanities nudity etc without being censored and blocked like youtube.
Probably the copyright too.if a director drops the video on yt,that s*** gonna get blocked off the rip.

Also the professional thing is true tbh.
A lot of content creators drop bts, full indie movies, upscaled movie footage etc.

I’m pretty sure Vimeo’s compression algorithm doesn’t degrade the video as much as YT as well

i think youtube compresses the quality a lot more too

Back again one more time cause this song is that good!
Sheesh, weeknd continues to drop music, songs come and go, this one has stayed on constant replay, it just has a vibe like holy s***! Got me mystified!

It has that something I can't quite describe, but it sounds so good, so emotional, has layers and a vibe!

His characteristic special vocals, the lyrics matter, reminiscing to the past work that made him stand out among his peers, and do to PBR&B what Nirvana did to grunge (him persuading his partner to leave her current lover to return to him)¹...
The instrumental/production, there's some magic captured in this recording session!

To me this is ome of his best songs, and what I would expect of the artist that made the mixtapes & Kiss Land in his beginnings, what I would expect from thatvsinger 5+ years down thebline, more experienced songwriting/song-making.

Shiieett, a case can be made that "Try Me" has all the qualities to surpass even his highest ranking tracks from strong projects like the mixtapes/Kiss Land, or what came after.

¹PS. Also the ending verse, reminds me of the time he was going out with Selena, just look how softly he speaks to his lover, whoever was it in the his mind.

It's always special when a musician (& a lover), draws inspiration from real life. Pure, like the love that's uncut and raw and clean:

    Don't you miss me babe?...
The way I kissed your scars...
The way I fixed your heart...
Oh, don't you miss me, babe?...

    .

Kudos to Abel, Frank Dukes, Marz, Mike Will Made It, Marquel Middlebrooks, and of course the regulars at XO, Belly, DaHeala, for contributing to this track. Thank you Abel, you need to be thanked twice!

"Try Me", among the Weeknd songs, you're the best I've ever had heard
