Hey y'all. Back from my hiatus from this place. I've been meaning to start my own clothing brand and make some legit stuff but I really do not know where to start (sourcing mass quantities of material, production factories/companies, etc.)

What I do plan to do is to start small, limited quantities and go from there but if anyone is willing to share knowledge or at least some of your experiences that proved to be valuable lessons for you that would be lovely.

Gonna be creating things that will evolve over time, sharing messages, fresh and innovative stuff all while contributing to the greater whole by promoting knowledge/wisdom and paying homage to what is rather than what is not.

    It's good to be back.

Man I'm tryin not to go that route. I want to put out quality s*** that means something deeper to someone other than buy it because it looks good. I think the screen printing stuff is a good idea but I want better for myself and others so I am with you on that.

There’s nothing wrong with a screen printed tee if that’s what you wanna use to convey a message. Should learn the basics of constructing a garment and general terminology so you can communicate efficiently with factories. Also check makers row it may be able to point you in the direction of factories

This all cute and everything but what are you actually going to make. People can supply you with all the information and resources in the world but if you don’t know what you’re actually going to be making yet what’s the point

Good idea. I'll do more research on this stuff before I communicate with any other factories of any kind. Thank you for the makers row suggestion. Gonna check that out

So what do you think about hand drawn art and embroider stitched clothing? I feel that the screen printing route would be good to do for me just starting out but idk I feel I can try to do more like others have before me

it’s cool for right now. This style of diy s*** is super trendy prolly cause of bode so there will be ppl who think you’re s*** is just knock off bode/unoriginal but also most ppl can’t even afford bode but still want the look so there prolly is a market for this type of s***.

I think for this kinda stuff your hand drawn/stitched art will be the biggest factor cause if that s*** is mid then ppl def ain’t gonna want that on their clothing.

also I see nothing wrong w starting w screen printing as long as your designs/idea/message youre printing is a1.
Literally every major/successful streetwear brand started w screenprintijg s*** on t shirts. It’s the easiest/most accessible way to start making cloth if you don’t know how to cut and sew s*** from scratch

but like other users said.. we really really do not need another brand that prints s*** on blanks so you have to come w fire graphics/designs to set you apart

I appreciate your perspective on this. I didn't know it was trendy right now so I gotta up my research game on this if I want to succeed. Damn I need to read up more on the successful brands then and see if/where/how they pivoted off their initial success or moves they made leading up to their breakout.

I'll have to do more research on the screen printing as well. Very good points all around. Yeah I really don't want to be a brand that just prints stuff on blanks but to the latter part of that point I will most definitely bring heat

You could make things that aren't clothes or

Print on vintage blanks or non t shirts

I did a pop up with a few friends and the more unique pieces sold first. Early on just take risk. A lot of times you will accidentally make something cool/interesting.

For the unique items you sold first, what thought went into creating some of those items? Was it a supply/demand type of thing or was it just some cool s*** that came to your minds before yall said f*** it lets make this?
