In a statement released on Facebook, following a National Security Council meeting, the president said: "There has been a criminal plan since the beginning of the century to change the demographic structure of Tunisia and there are parties that received large sums of money after 2011 for the settlement of illegal immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa.

"The undeclared goal of the successive waves of illegal immigration is to consider Tunisia a purely African country that has no affiliation to the Arab and Islamic nations."

Saied added that there was a need to "put an end to this phenomenon quickly, especially as the uncontrolled immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa continue with violence and unacceptable crimes"

I'm tunisian and s*** is getting legit insane here. On YouTube and Tiktok you're basically bombarded with hate speech targeting sub-sharan immigrants and disseminating "great replacement" conspiracy theories.

Deeply ironic that such bullshit was originally propagated by the french far right in reaction to north african immigrants.

I’ve been following it slightly but I can only read some Tunisian Arabic. It’s crazy as s***. People really have no idea how bad anti-African rhetoric is in many MENA countries

This is f***ed up, but it always cracks me up to see this kind of virulent racism from non-whites. Anyways north Africans need to decide between getting mad when they're excluded from African identity and getting mad when they're included.
