I've realized I'm into visceral experiences over more cerebral ones so stuff like Mulholland doesn't hit as hard for me.
Don't have an overwhelming #1 for the decade but top 3 is maybe;
Serious Man
Speed Racer
There Will Be Blood
I always get lost on the meaning people give to a ācerebralā film or story. Doesnāt it have to do with intellect? For me Mulholland Drive IS a visceral experience
Serious Man is much more intellectual to me tbh
I'll always defend MD against accusations of being random or nonsensical because it's very intricately crafted, but at the same time I think the enjoyment comes from how the story is told through sound, colors, camerawork, acting etc. For me it made sense on an emotional level before I understood it intellectually.
Sound design in particular in the film is just insane
Sound design in any Lynch film is insane, thatās like one of his strongest points as a filmmaker
And i hate it when i see people label MD as something that doesnāt make sense. If anything, itās his most straight forward film of all the more surreal entries in his filmography

Some parts but I can't wrap my head around the whole thing (yet) so I call it cerebral to try an let myself off the hook like i do with alot of Godard

See i never got this tbh
to me MD couldnāt be more clear, it isnāt all that abstract people make it out to be from my experience

Wild At Heart is way more random and nonsensical and I prefer it. That wasn't my complaint sir. I don't know what emotions to feel when i watch it, maybe that's why I say cerebral.

Tbh I always lose interest by the end or fall asleep in the middle
sacrilege i know

I remember falling asleep during MD too, and look at me now
Thereās still hope for you!

Well at least you're straightforward about it

Yeah obviously huge part of any Lynch, but I mean even in context of his filmography it still amazes me, prolly my fav he's done. That or Eraserhead, with the Return coming in 3rd

I love Eraserhead and itās def very iconic also, but i donāt enjoy actually watching it as much as most of his other stuff so itās lower on my list than on most peoples i assume
Is that confirmed cause I always assumed Richard was Jack Wheeler's kid
"Goodbye my son" - Mr. C to Richard right after sending him into the trap

Bad coop r*ped Diane
He also visited Audrey when she was in a coma
Kid is the most evil human character in TP history and gets literally called ''son'' by bad Coop
That's pretty much the most confirmed it can get for something in a Lynch movie
Chief Keef a Twin Peaks fan or just a coincidence?
"You Like walking through the fire? Walk with me"

Yea he used the word wrong. Visceral is the perfect word for lynch movies. All feeling and instinct.
Cerebral is more like primer or donnie darko

all good
we got people in here claiming its an emotional experience, some visceral and some cerebral so its safe to say MH at least can be a pretty subjective experience
Had this soundtrack in my playlists back when I was watching it
The main theme came on shuffle while I was out today. Made me feel so many emotions
Man this whole series is just the most beautiful thing ever, nothing has ever stuck in my subconscious like this. Think about it every day and wish that i could just wipe my memory and see it all over again.... god... this is peak TV & cinema at the same time. Words cannot do this masterpiece of art & entertainment justice..
I canāt believe my GOAT is really working on a new series
we are truly blessed guys, appreciate it while it lasts

Idk why for some reason i feel so anxious about it coming out, even though he already licensed the thing
It just feels so unreal to get something so relatively quick after 18 episodes of Twin Peaks, since his last entry before that was from 2006
What a blessing, i might cry when the new show comes out fr, because who knows it might be his last one. God willing that isn't the case but yeah, getting another body of work by Lynch right now is beautiful
