Doing a full rewatch currently, the first since I originally watched it. Man I forgot how rough some of these season 2 sideplots get. It's a real slog.
Season 1 was a lot more grounded than I recalled. Besides Cooper's dream there's very little weirdness outside of the quirky characters themselves.
Also James Hurley truly just sucks.

I just binged S1 & S2 and I ended up fast forwarding through all the side plots after S2E10 or something like that
The side plots are utterly unbearable
this is crazy
I rly dig her, she brought a lot of nuance to a character which was essentially just an exotic femme fatale. and she directed the film Xiu Xiu named themselves after ๐๐ป

She did but I'm more amazed that she was discovered by fkn Mao's wife during the Culture Revolution
I remember you though the American civil war was still raging till this day and that Canada was involved so I'm not sure if you know how haywire of an era that was for China, especially to be discovered by the Chairmans crazy ass wife

Brother you already forgot about the countless times you misused "camp" before you finally listened to me Inception is not campy, Befly
To this day were not entirely sure to what extent you were trolling us or just being Befly but I could pull up alot of endearingly batshit opinions of yours.
Man Ray Wise was really acting circles around everybody else in this show only other performance that comes close is Sheryl Lee in FWWM. They shouldve been stacking awards.
man what a show
oh my god
Finished the first season. Pretty good. I understand that special Lynch sauce it has.
James not making the Top 5 is crazy. Dude had that super sayian rizz
Just got to S2 Episode 7, "Lonely Souls". I feel like thats a seminal moment in the show. The entire episode was great. It said Frost wrote and Lynch directed and I knew some heat was coming.
The scene of "It is Happening Again" by the Giant guy and then Leland in the mirror with Bob flashing in. That was insane. Bob is actually pretty unsettling to see.
I think I finally got a grip on the show. It felt very soap opera at moments and then it goes into crime drama and then surrealist. I'm not breaking any new ground of course on a 30 year old show, but it's clicking for me. I enjoyed trying to get a gauge on the feel of the show too, I think that was intentional too by the creators.
