Finished Season 1 last night. Two words to describe my overall feelings: transfixed & enthralled

What a strange, surreal, and entirely singular show. Between the endless music cues, odd lines of dialogue, and melodramatic-bordering-on-parody overacting, on paper it sounds like it would be a trainwreck to watch, but it is so mystifying and curiously comforting when you actually experience it for yourself.

Growing up I always heard about Twin Peaks through other shows and movies that were inspired by it, and I always falsely assumed that it was more serious & heavy-handed than it actually is. While it's not that, I do agree with the consensus sentiment that the show has a very dreamlike quality to it.

The mystery of who committed the murder is what draws you in at the very start, but as the season progressed I found myself to be less and less concerned with the answer to that question and more just utterly captivated with what the hell is happening in this town

As a huge fan of Alan Wake II, it was amazing to finally see what inspired that game more than anything else, and I'm probably going to replay it after I finish Twin Peaks just so I can spend more time in a world that feels like it.

My favorite characters so far are Cooper, Josie, Audrey, and Pete, but honestly every single one of the cast has at least one trait or aspect of their performance that makes them a joy to watch.

As far as what I think is going to happen moving forward, I honestly have no idea whatsoever

I'm starting Season 2 tomorrow, and planning to pick up The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer and read it this weekend. I have absolutely no clue where this train is headed but I'm strapped in with my seat back for the rest of the ride!

man that’s they said about s2e22 too bro that s*** was 22 hours

can i skip the movie and go straight to s3 then?

the movie is missing the silliness from the tv series which i prefer ngl

bro the movie is so important for actually introducing Laura as a character and showing a lot of things only talked about in the series from her perspective. also just one of Lynch's most fierce and raw films in general.

confident S3 will be a big payoff for u too, it expands the scope of everything so much and has its own rly unique aesthetic. and if u dig the silliness there's entire arcs in S3 that are intensely silly lol. v curious what u think tho

why did u expect to not like the series? 🤔 did u struggle w other Lynch stuff too

It might be a good idea to hold off on the diary till you get towards the second half of S2 or right before FWWM

Noted. I know that it was released before Season 2 aired, does it spoil some stuff about it?

It actually doesn’t but there are certain things that really read like hints after knowing the full story

But also I think its just an extremely potent read alongside FWWM and after learning certain things in S2.

There were things in the book that made me cry that I dont think would’ve if I read it earlier in the story

ngl this typa stuff just isn’t my thing, especially for tvs shows, that’s why i been avoiding lynch stuff even tho i know it’s supposed to be good.

like weird movies im ok with even if i prefer things that are mostly based in reality

but for tv i have bad taste and idgaf. i’m a abc family sitcom + sunday night hbo + 6-7/10 coming of age/comedy shows on netflix typa guy

most of twin peaks wasn’t for me either ngl. loved season 1, and parts of s2, movie was aight, s3 was mostly background noise just couldn’t get into it at all besides the the first and last few eps. the music guests and all the cameos were nice i guess.
