What really blows my mind about Twin Peaks is how Frost & Lynch take a murder case and completely twist it into this endless pit of mystery and supernaturalist elements.

Agent Cooper fell into that hole and never recovered, that opening shot of him riding into Twin Peaks is chilling because we now know he would never be the same. All of the people, secrets and dimensions he uncovered were the result of Laura Palmer.

& Laura Palmer’s role in The Return is incredible and absolutely magical - she’s more than just a victim. It had to be her.

I’ve said it before but The Return is the greatest cinematic achievement of the past 30 years. The scale, atmosphere & vision are simply unmatchable. It rewrote the rules for the medium just as the original show did in the 90s. Complete cinematic poetry on every facet of filmmaking.

Crazy watching this for the first time and instantly seeing shades and colours of future shows that owe so much to this.

And Louie one of my fav shows. And even had Lynch on it as louie’s mentor.

Mathew Lillard is GOAT, he’s been in a ton of s*** but yeah he’s great in this. got a ton of versatility

Was there an explanation was to why this beat was in S3?

Works as an audio-visual cue to remind you that certain scenes are part of the same plot line (the small hitman with the ice pick)

But why this random YouTube beat? I ended up loving its weirdness like this show teaches you to do but I just want answers

production has a lot of people i’m sure a younger person was just like f*** it lets use this beat

actually lynch himself is fond of youtube for filmmaking (glad he got away from that pretentious ass mobile phone comment but i understand why he said it at that moment) so it could have been a decision of his own accord

Curious what the purpose of Cooper asking “What year is it?” was? Does anyone have any theories regarding this? Why would the year matter in this scenario and why would Lynch end the show with that being the last line. Although, the last word we head is “Laura”.

I usually hate the “oh it’s a dream” explanation because it feels like a cop out and even with Twin Peaks I’ve scoffed at people before trying to explain it like that. But then I discovered this thread, read through it and came out of it feeling way better about the idea. We’ll never know the truth but this is what makes sense the most to me.
