GKMC is widely acclaimed as a classic, some even calling it a "perfect" album. Upon initial listen, It solidified my already borderline stannery with Kendrick, crowning him the next HOF artist. However, two songs that never made the original cut always bothered me.

"Black Boy Fly"
Imo, this was the best, if not top 3 songs on GKMC that should've been on the original tracklist, not just deluxe. I literally gave me goosebumps the first time I listened to it. The production along with Kendrick's somber voice painting a hopeless image of the future of the young black male growing up in Compton only to tie the verses and ending in with resilience. His second most powerful song after Blacker The Berry.

"Cartoons & Cereal"
The greatest song never to make an album. From the dynamic production to the background vocals, this song is both a chilling tale of the hardships to fight ones own demons and conform to the pressure to the environment all while not presented over a slow, sympathetic tale, but a slapper of a beat.
What makes this song a masterpiece is the self awareness of the unexpected feature from Gunplay. While address his resort to gang lifestyle and d*** dealing, he acknowledges the hypocrisy of both his actions and environment he grew up in. An absolute gem. Never have I seen a feature fit a song so perfectly in every way possible.

Do you think these two songs should've been on the OG tracklist? Imo they're both better than most tracks on the album, and that's not to take away anything from the current album itself.

Black Boy Fly would fit right before Compton, or, in my controversial opinion, in place of it. Compton's cool but it sounds like it shouldve been on Dre's Compton album. Its probably my least fav song but I can see the reason for it as a closer but Black Boy Fly wouldve sealed it better.

Cartoons and Cereal was already meant to be on it but didnt since it leaked. Could go perfectly before Good Kid

I think he would’ve made them fit flawlessly and it would’ve been even more regarded as a classic

I wish I new how it was sequenced when it was originally going to be a double disc. Collect calls is fire too
