I don’t think a teenage white kid that listens to IGOR and MBDTF and Madvillainy and spams their topsters list and last.fm collages became Tyler fans because of the edgy shock value s*** he was doing in the early 2010s
I think this whole D’Angelo thing is simply because a lot of his new fanbase doesn’t really engage in the broader sphere of hip-hop/R&B and soul (what’s considered “black music”) except a few artists such as Tyler, Ye, Kendrick, DOOM, Drake, etc. and i’m not saying this to put down their respective artistry, it is simply to highlight a portion of their fanbases that has increased in the past few years
