If there’s one part I liked about the heart 6 is that Drake really did piss Kendrick off enough to make some of the most interesting music I’ve heard from him. There’s an ugliness to it. He’s completely lost his cool. You can reaaally feel like there’s some jealousy and hatred here. He cannot believe that such a square made it so far in the music industry on autopilot. He’s disgusted with him and likely frustrated with his own personal life if what Drake is saying is to believed. Also probably a little frustrated that Mr Morale, a project everyone I talk to music with, agrees is an incredibly beautiful album, did not reach the same level of success as his others. It’s an album that helped me deal with my own s*** and to see him go from “I hope you find some peace of mind in this life time” to literally choosing violence is baffling, extremely interesting, sort of disappointing/disturbing, but also somehow stupidly exciting.

You don’t see any ego in this at all? Kendrick wouldn’t have done this if he had the same numbers as Drake in my opinion. Kendrick is stupidly competitive (see Father Time, Like That, Control etc). Dude wants to WIN.

I’m not even saying I care about him winning but it’s hard to not read between the lines and see that he feels like he is losing when it comes to the numbers.

It could just be me but I know Kendrick cares about being on top and seeing a cornball beating him numbers wise for so long has to weigh on his soul. That same cornball mentioning his family and trying to ruin his reputation just pushed him way over the line we expected him to stay behind.

Kendrick would not be nearly as interesting of a figure, artist and personality if he wasn't an old school Gemini full of contradictions. Bruh is highly inconsistent and he's told us that repeatedly. A lot of people didn't think he could be as committed, meanspirited, cruel and downright funny as he has been throughout this beef.

That's part of what made these songs so compelling though. In the process of trying to unmask Drake, Kendrick revealed some ugly and very human parts of his own personality. Meet the Grahams is straight up nasty and even I, someone who has been listening since S80, didn't see that one coming.

I guess, if anyone is going to hate Drake, or at least what he represents, it ought to be Kendrick. To him, he's a symbol of privilege and artificiality that he's hell-bent on knocking over, and he did that. He's not coming out of this beef clean though, and I'm guessing he knows it. That's how rap beef goes.

dont think mr morale is killing that part of you to find peace as much as its accepting these resentments are all apart of the human experience and are equally apart of our lives as much as the highs.

its only thru sitting down with ourselves and accepting the pain and damage we've done to ourselves and others that we can br at peace
