    Millions of possible returns?

What are the millions or even handful of possible returns lol, these labels have dudes being paid millions running numbers, a***ytics, and seeing the history of these beefs (Ye/50, Pusha Drake, etc etc etc). They knew with an extreme likelihood the outcome. There’s really only one outcome when s*** like this happens, more engagement, more streams, more discourse, more tribalism, more media coverage, and ultimately more money flowing through the entire machine.

Ye and 50 didn’t have a beef and it’s knowingly been acknowledged that battle was to legitimize selling records as an argument in rap to be made for a top rapper when it didn’t, it just further established pop rappers

nobody is sitting in a room a***yzing “if Drake calls Kendrick short and Kendrick calls him a pedo, they will have beef and we will and they will make millions 🤓”

that’s what I mean by MILLIONS of uncontrolled variables. don’t matter how much a***ysis you do, you can’t a***yze data and reach an Euphoria or NLU

Go believe whatever you want. You can believe it was all just a coincidence that the whole situation ended up boosting their fame, attention, engagement, and commercial success, all while making UMG a massive amount of money off an asset that was heavily depreciating.

and that UMG knowingly and deliberately chose to damage its biggest investment lol. Honestly, it's dumber to think UMG would actively work against their own top asset than to think they had some level of influence over how the situation played out.

These things that have transpired that say otherwise create the legitimacy of it and amplify it lol.

That's the hidden in plain sight that you're missing, if Drake didn't drop bars about his label, sue the label, etc. Fans wouldn't be as engaged.

nigga but he sued them in real life bruh. the allegations of him being a pedo have real life ramifications. you honestly think they went through all that for what you are suggesting? come on bruh access the risk when thinking about this bruh.

What real ramifications lol, please enlighten me? People that hate(d) Drake think he's lame/pedo/lost/whatever?

Redditors & KTT2 users opinions hold little to no weight on Drake, nonetheless everyone who touches grass is still listening to Drake, loving Drake, etc.

Yes, I think it’s plausible they’d go through all of that to generate tens or even hundreds of millions. People and businesses have done far more extreme and irrational PR stunts for much smaller payoffs.

you seem to have your mind made up so whatever you say bro. That's way too risky. Again, I have even thought about what you are suggesting a lot. But once he sued them it was like alright how fabricated is this really?

  • cool video i found tangentially related to this

The lawsuit is exactly the kind of thing that makes people stop viewing it as “possibly PR” or Drake KDot beef and start taking it much more seriously, which only deepens the fan tribalism and group identity around the whole situation.

You right I'm coming off arrogant and hard headed. Idk for sure what happened, but I don't believe it's farfetched at all that it was manufactured (to some extent by some involved party).

I don't know what happened other than UMG promoted Kendrick a lot, a lot esp in relativity, which makes me think why? Drake is UMGs biggest investment so why would you snake him and try to hurt him?

Comes down to really 2 paths imo

    • UMG knew this would bring tens of millions if not hundreds and the whole thing was manufactured
    • UMG wants to hurt Drakes stock (which would be weird and honestly dumb)

Call me schizophrenic, but the whole beef was manufactured to bring rap back and make UMGs artists bigger, including Drake.

These labels have done this time and time again, esp in hiphop. Rap is and has been in a horrible state - objectively/commercially speaking.

Drake had massive backing by UMG in Iceman dropping. Every organization (including the White House...) is promoting the album lol, thats label driven. I am sure UMG also helped financially with all the promo (Iceblocks, CN Tower stuff, etc).

UMG did not help almost at all with the promo. Any promo-related costs would need to be recouped-with interest. He came out of pocket for most if not all promo costs. These are the type of costs that artists do not think about and lead to them trying to recoup in perpetuity.
