So hear me out, if you you have ever seen or read about Ayahuasca ceremonies, you might know the participants get symptoms of sickness such as fever, vomiting, weakness of the body and etc. The idea being that if the participant surrenders to that painful experience and humbles themselves to mother Aya they will come out of it changed and healed.

My theory is that at some point uncle Iroh sneakily gave Prince Zuko the Avatar universe equivalent of Ayahuasca which resulted in him getting "sick" and waking up the next day healed from the traumas caused by his father the Fire Lord and being no longer evil.

Hahaha i also am in school to do animation and am friends with a lot of professional animators it’s like my life. And ive done stuff on some movies. Im very into it and so are a lot of my friends who work in it so this is first hand knowledge hahaha.

Artists re generally curious, free and open minded and are more likely to be into that stuff! You have to kinda break a lot of social expectations and stuff to even decide to work in that field anyway, in most places.

Putting it into the show kinda wild though i f*** with it a lot hahahah
