It was a hard listen bro. He's nice. I've known of Billy Woods for a long time, but never listened. Also the styles clash. I couldn't get a feel or rhythm on it. Even got a feel with Fantasy Island with Jay Worthy and he raps with a bounce over Alc's beats.

I've also known of Armand Hammer but never gave them a shot til now. I saw Alc and Quelle as a feature so I checked it out lol.

I'll come back to it and give it another shot eventually. What can you recommend to help me get into them?

But I hear you. It’s a lot of very layered/inaccessible lyrics, which I can see as being too much, even tho the rapping is always so next level. And I think this might be my fav project Al has produced..

This would be the album I’d recommend lol, but otherwise, I’d start with Shrines. Has some more bright production that might make for a more pleasant listen. Paraffin and Rome are sister albums, both very dark/tense/heavy-hitting. Everything they’ve made is incredible tho, imo.

I dunno, the cramming-too-many words-in-a-line thing he’s been doing is growing on me. I like the “fuck it” aspect. “Friday Night Lights” is the only song where it borders on detrimental for me. Don’t need it to become his main thing, though.

I still check for his releases but do find him hit or miss. Am intrigued by that VNGRD project he's been teasing a while. I believe he/they? just started selling the digital files via DM too.

My bad! Yeah, I’d like to hear the VNGRD thing, too, especially since I’m not even sure who exactly’s on it, etc. And yeah, his self-produced albums are the ones I find myself being able to put on without wanting to skip around. Monumentality and Facemelt are definitely my faves of his, along with Divino Edition 2. Been meaning to give all of those Nack collab projects from 2018 a re-listen.
