I was half-kidding but as far as a new project with its own specific website with a big midnight launch featuring randomly expensive physical copies and clothing. I guess Westside also did that for Pray for Paris but there were also copies of Nack’s Jada Fire album up on there at one point for $69.69 and s***, which definitely felt a little Black Friday-ish, putting up and taking down extra items.

Finally got around to sitting down with the Rigz and Futurewave tape tonight, that s*** is pretty nice

Idk I guess the pricing is no doubt bitten, but the rest seems like more general underground salesmanship

I cosign this. Hus is hella wack, the originator of this trash "renaissance". I just looked at the list on this thread and god damn there's some trash no names listed. The ones that are nice are real nice though.

His Kingpin is not the “originator” of this renaissance

Tha Connection was making more noise back in 07 than Roc. Y'all don't give my man A.G. enough props. Him and Ray West laid as many foundations. I seen this s*** in real time, this is why it's hard for y'all to comment. It's revisionist s***. Roc had the bigger influence but he ain't birthed none of this b.

Word—I see what you mean bro. But I interpret it as Roc’s influence is what made all this s*** pop off and become accessible to more people in the underground.

After Marcberg, a lot of dudes started to use that minimal-beat, maximal-rhyming like Roc. I won’t deny that The Winners were definitely early on some of that, but Roc is who made it look the best, and so dudes followed him on that trail.

No doubt Roc ran with it, did it a million times better and had hundreds of others copy his style. Hus is pretty wack but him and Smoovth was out there while Roc was rebuilding his style.

A.G. and Ray west and some of the other DITC brothers need their props though. A lot of the artists listed on the first page would credit them. I hope one day you skip back to 99-05 type era and check out what was happening on the indie scene in NY. That's my heart right there. Not wack ass Aesp Rock or el-p type s*** though, that s*** was horrible.

    I feel you. Well put.

Put me on, throw me some s*** from that era that you think was popping and I’ll listen
