People underrate YG but he dropped one of the best albums of the 2010s. He brought back that dgaf west coast 90s attitude while giving us a good ass storytelling album
It’s like GKMC but from the perspective of a gangbanger rather than a good kid. the tale ends tragically this time tho. The message is clear. This is the life of the streets.
YG knows how to paint pictures of people as seen in this song
“Damn, I caught the b**** cheating
Damn, she was with him last weekend
What you mean you gon' call right back?
What you mean you ain't got time like that?
She f***ed a fella I knew, ain't really f***ed with his crew
I did a song with his brother and she f***ed with him too
All that s*** she was talking, she wasn't really 'bout it
And it made it even worse when my homie told me 'bout it”
This b**** is scandalous
His first 2 albums are damn good but bro fell off after that tbh
Yeah I’m definitely not denying that. But in his prime he had some classics
true but his mixtapes just re'd up 2 and 4hunnid degrees better and some of the mixtapes of the 2010s like top 20
Also this album will be 10 years old in a couple days
damn dont even feel like it lmao

I ate the p**** on the first date
And brush my teeth with Colgate

Can't disagree. OP is right tho MKL is a really underrated 2010's debut album.
I remember there was a poster on KTT1 named like Banana Clipse that was really hyping YG up before MKL was announced. Same guy that put me on to Young Thug right around when ppl were hyping 2 Cups Stuffed. Always thought that that guy was low key an A&R or something, dude was always hyping up rappers right before they got big

Need more 1AM type music from him.

I still can’t believe Metro did that beat
I still can’t believe Metro did that beat
I know, I wish he branched out a bit more like that.
I know, I wish he branched out a bit more like that.
It’s cool what he’s doing now but he could truly be amazing if he experimented like that more
YG was on West Coast’s neck with his first two albums. Discog just fell apart after the third, RIP Nip
Fire album
Smoking N Drinkin hard to me bc YG sent Dot the whole album and Dot chose to be on that track

I’ve always said MKL was like GKMC from the perspective of one of Kendrick cousins
Summertime 06 too
