the last time i saw anything interesting from uniqlo was their 2020-21 jill sander collab. theyve been in a rut for awhile now

A drop in quality could be indicative of the rise of other fast fashion alternatives (Shein and Amazon specifically come to mind), and trying to remain affordable amidst rising costs and logistical challenges, but I imagine the increased popularity hasn’t helped.

The staleness of the designs almost seems intentional at this point - taking that simplicity and wearability to the extreme but, unlike with mainline Lemaire, not having in the quality materials that really make those designs shine. I say that as someone who hasn’t really handled mainline Lemaire pieces, but based on product pics and descriptions it seems like the clothes rely heavily on the textiles for their simplicity to work so well.

Idk I thought that last U line was kinda nice, better than the few before it. New one kinda eh
