Mickey Mouse is an empty status quo symbol, Superman 1978 is also just a symbol for hardcore nerds to flex their appreciation of a genre’s history - Batman and then Spider-Man have more of the impact that Superman 1978 gets solely credited for, late career Scorsese is just film bros feeling obligated to d***ride cause he’s still competent…but his s*** now is lifeless for the most part in comparison to when he was making fun movies, the Empire Strikes Back one is just me trolling Star Wars fans, Toy Story 2 is boring as hell, Godfather 2 is not as entertaining or tightly written as the first and yet…it was the thinking man’s “best” Godfather for years, and modern Batman is a shell of everything generations have loved Batman for; a Mary Sue brute who operates out of anger and resentment rather than empathy

That’s not fair to Mickey. He was born in a different era of animation. That’s like calling Betty Boop or Bugs Bunny “empty”

But ahhhh I would say Betty Boop and especially Bugs Bunny are not empty even today

I see. I guess if I thought about it, Mickey is more of a “blank slate” character like Felix the Cat or Woody Woodpecker but maneuvered his way into a lasting legacy.

Irishman was a slog but Wolf of Wall Street goated

Thought Irishman felt monolithic and the perfect final film if Marty chose to retire. Wolf on the other hand lost some steam and feels like a come down from amphetamines, your exhausted by the end which I guess is an attribute depending on how you look at it

One of my hottest takes is that Green Wing is unwatchably bad, the improv stuff sucks, and each ep has no reason to be an hour long

    Peep Show is incredible though

Green Wing is in my top 5 favorite shows ever. Michelle Gomez and Mark Heap stole the show.

But there's definitely a weird format for sure, and the comedy is a little outdated now. But the score for the show is weird and trippy in a great way. I like that cheeky style of comedy they have.

    Why?

    The dark humor
The way the whole season is built on how truth can be manipulated and how you see it play out throughout the season and how it f***s people up
Vargas being a top tier antagonist
The biblical references and how they get tied into the story
    The dips into surrealism
Ewan McGregor putting in WORK as 2 different characters
I love the characters too, which has always been one of my favorite things about the show as a whole. Every character feels memorable and distinct.

I appreciate the season more with every rewatch

Nah nigga you just imagine yourself being him. And you have a crush on him.

I mean it makes sense if white audience sees themselves in an actor/character then they are more blinded and let s*** slide.

I always scratch my head how these people got the roles they got. Never seen a white male actor who is truly giving a performance. Except Al Pacino.
