These are all great films. But not even speaking for myself here, how many times have you heard Daniel in those movies being cited as a favourite role/character? I just don’t see him being the greatest actor of all time or even his time. That’s why I consider him to be overrated because of the extent of his acclaim. He is an amazing actor just not the cream of the crop imo

first of all Depp never really been it, his career has been made from excellent role choices more than his own acting skills (and Dead Man is one of my favourite films). he can be great but not masterful.

Oldman kinda the opposite, stunning actor never reached the heights of the other guys you mentioned not exactly because of poor role choices but just accepting too many bit parts (that were great and memorable) but not deep enough that he could really dig into them.

DDL, De Niro and Pacino had the luck (and foresight) of picking roles in lots of films that ended up being iconic anyway... in addition to being skilled enough to rise to the occasion.

Gary Olman and Johnny Depp are both character actors but Depp is the most popular of all character actors which is why I said Oldman is Depp on steroids.

You're right about Oldman not having much iconic roles compared to those other actors you mentioned but what makes Oldman better than them is his range. Oldman has more range than all those actors and that's facts
