Just based on Baby Driver, Edgar Wright is an overrated director

Edit: Pain & Gain is one of the most underrated movies ever

Didn’t twilight only come out like 6 or 7 years ago? I never saw them so idk off the top of my head. I can’t imagine he’s from any previous generation, it feels like his career is only just starting now

He’s 34 and hasn’t been relevant since the last twilight movie.

Brian De Palma is the best director to come out of the Film School generation

Agree, though there's a few others he's tied with for me

This isn't true, actors just aren't on the pedestal they once were. There are so many paths to fame now, actors and movie stars are no longer THE famous people, just famous people amongst a sea of famous people.

nah man, which actor of the newer generations can compare to the likes of peak Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, George Clooney, Johnny Deep, Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Tom Cruise, etc. Im not talking about acting chops because there is a lot of fresh talent, im talking about levels of Super Stardom

But that's what I mean. You're naming people that came up in the 90s, some of them the 80s. That was still a time when movie stars were, for the most part, the most famous people in the world. Before the Youtube star, before the Instagram star, before the golden age of television, etc. There are so many more famous people now and ways to get famous. These days you're more likely to see a David Dobrik poster on a 15 year old girl's wall than you are an actor, but that's not an indictment against the actors, the landscape is just different. The movie industry itself is wildly different too. There are only so many avenues you can take now to become a true movie star.

We still have Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, the multiple Chrises, etc. all of whom are as big as they possibly can be given the competition, the state of the film industry and just the way media is consumed nowadays.

yeah man, but there are very few actors in their 20s leading Mainstream films, im not talking only about films. There are very few male movie stars in their 20s, and the ones we have arent in the caliber of previous generations

Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, George Clooney, Johnny Deep, Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Tom Cruise,

which actor in his 20s has the potential to be like these??

Hollywood will never run out of new talent to turn into stars.

It'd be nice if that happened and there were no more superstars one day, but it never will. The Hollywood production industry was designed to guarantee an endless supply of names that PR teams can turn into top-billing material in a matter of months.
