Maybe I’m older but majority of video games don’t hit like they used to.
I’ve noticed a big honeymoon phase with a new game and after 2 weeks it goes back to collecting dust.
His games are great and very enjoyable but let’s be real the stories are written like s***
Ngl you not spittin my boy
EDIT: After the PS3 days maybe but MGS 1-3 were extremely good for a video game

I don’t disagree at all. Maybe he had a ghostwriter because it all went to s*** after then
Sleeping Dogs is extremely mid. Only redeemable aspect of the game is the melee combat. Only paid like $8 for it and I still want my money back
Yakuza 0 is a good game, but I don't see myself ever playing a Yakuza game again
Persona 5 is overrated. I wish they established firm rules for how the metaverse works, it felt like there were too many deus ex machina moments explained away with "cognition", "change of heart" or whatever. The game also drags on for far too long
Hella unnecessary scenes that add nothing to the game and could've been cut
Bloodborne has an amazing plot but I wish FromSoft made it more clear to the player. Major plot points of the game should be delivered to the player by progressing through the game, not by watching a video on Youtube. People finish the game and don't even have any idea about the underlying story
Play yakuza like a dragon. It’s a soft reboot of the franchise
Also I agree with you besides the last point. Figuring out the subtle lore of souls games is part of the fun

Idk how I feel about turn based combat and the whole "extremely goofy but also extremely dangerous gangsters" tonal contrast is a big reason why I didn't like Yakuza 0. Don't think I'll enjoy anything in the series
I love the way FromSoft present their stories, but Bloodborne could've used just a few extra cutscenes or NPC dialogue lines to explain the plot to the player. Reading the item descriptions etc gives you pieces of the puzzle, but I hate having to rely on Youtube rather than the game itself to clue me in on what the big picture is. Its cool if some things are left ambiguous or obscure, but if many players finish your game without even realizing there's an (amazing) underlying plot - that's too obscure imo
Persona 4 and Persona 5 s*** on every single JRPG ever made
Persona 5 is one of the most tedious and repetitive rpgs i've ever played and the story nosedives in quality when you get past the first arc about the pedo teacher. how it gets so much praise outside of the music and style is insane to me.

I like the stories overall but he legit didn't want to make 4 and V, a lot of the subtext of 4 is Snake representing the franchise going on far beyond its intended duration
If he had his way the series would've stopped at 2, I think the increasing contrivances of the later games are a result of them being added into a story that had been considered finished with the previous installment

That definitely puts things into perspective

Yeah, each time Konami were like 'Want to make a new Metal Gear?', he'd be like 'No', then they'd say 'Well, we're gonna make one anyway without you then...' and he'd have to do it because he didn't want the franchise getting messed up, fair play to him, he absolutely gave it his all every time and we got some great games from it, but it sucks that Konami treated him like a cash cow then dumped him in the most unceremonious way possible, after all he'd done for the company

Doom 2016 is a mediocre game
Kinda agree. I liked it but I think they held back a bit

I feel like 2016 was just another FPS while Eternal feels like what Doom 2016 should have been
Western RPGs usually either ape the aesthetics of Lord of The Rings or Star Trek with no type of variation or sense of identity and I think that's wack and boring

While this is a problem my main problem with western rpgs is that the combat is usually terrible
Ocarina of Time is f***ing mid. Like even as a kid that s*** played like garbage and was boring. Thank god I was lucky enough to grow up with Majora's Mask.
Fighting games are only fun when guys aren't that good and don't know every combo known to man.
Turn based combat has never been done in a way that's genuinely fun outside of Pokémon who's copied the exact gameplay since the 90s.
It is a great game, but I never got why it was regarded as like a masterpiece. It’s a cool world and really tight gameplay, but it didn’t break ground or anything.
It's because it's an exclusive and people reach to make it worth the purchase.
That said it's one of the few games I genuinely had a lot of fun with and no lifed it. I'll definitely grab the 2nd one on day 1.
