The film itself aside (might make a spoiler post later), I thought the 70mm print was pretty subpar, at least the one I saw. The scenes shot for IMAX looked great and that insane aspect ratio is always incredible but the overall picture quality was no where near the quality of the 70mm IMAX Nolan films I’ve seen. I need to go see it again in IMAX Laser.
This might be Coogler’s opus. A powerful film that not only has a lot to say, but is so god damn entertaining. This has fantastic performances top to bottom, beautiful cinematography all around, and a really great story to boot. Honestly, this might be an instant classic. See it in IMAX if you can.
5/5

It's his best for sure. I've always thought he was a great filmmaker, but he really leveled up with this one
Would do anything for Hailee to spit in my mouth like that
Josh Allen shaking in his boots rn
Damn throughout this movie I had this s*** at a 5/5 and was absolutely loving it. That music performance was f***ing insane.
But then the vampire s*** happened and it started to lose me…I honestly wasn’t feeling that 3rd act at all. Which is a shame because the set up was damn near perfect. So I got it at a 4/5 now which still makes it a damn good film, I just feel the ending got sloppy.
But I haven’t seen this good of a performance from MBJ since Creed 1.
Miles Caton completely killed it, and this his first role? Got damn. Bro was so smooth wit it too…. Nigga said “happily?”
And got damn when Hailee said “oh you not gon steal this p****?”
I think my main issue is I went into this thinking it was gonna be about killing the KKK who are vampires but it wasn’t that. I ain’t really like seeing niggas turn into vampires and having to kill they own. I kinda wish it was full out war against the KKK rather than that small little bit at the end. Stack getting killed took me by a complete surprise, but idk if I liked those turn of events tho
Thought it was decent, the twins scenes were good, some strange plot choices towards the end IMO
End credits are cool
Hailee
MBJ def asked for spit reshoots
This this this. The first like 65% of the film was completely flawless but then s*** got a little shaky baby
Also when all the vampires died I was thinking “that’s it? That fast? That easy?” Like the Asian chick could’ve waited 20 more minutes and the sun would’ve been out. Idk seeing that big of a build up just to sizzle out that fast was odd. Maybe this film would’ve done better with an extra 15 minutes or so.
Getting Get Out vibes from the level of praise this is getting.
This better than Get Out imo

Ehhh them killing kkk vampires wouldve been too cliche and safe I’m ngl

How so? all they did was kill vampires and then still killed the KKK the next day. We’ve seen 100s of films of people killing vampires, never any that was specifically the KKK. Idk I thought Ryan was gonna do something a little more unique wit that angle
Thing I didn’t understand was this tho: why couldn’t the vamps enter without being invited in at first and then they knocked down the big doors and just run in like that?

because the Asian lady invited them in

Because the fact that they had to kill their own people they loved gave it some emotional weight, if it was just shooting KKK ppl that were also vampires it would’ve become another Tarantino style shoot em up like Django Unchained. And that would’ve been kinda ehh imo
Oh lol missed that
yeah it’s when Smoke tried grabbing her mouth and she bites him and then yells “come on in motherfuckerssss.” Which was stupid cus she got damn near everyone killed and then bam suddenly the sun comes up
