I've watched it in imax but I was far back
I'm weird with horror movies like when smoke handed over the money

Ngl that part got me. Those IMAX speakers are so loud and immersive.

i give grace more grace than most. i was just upset she sent my guy Bo out there when he wanted to be there for his guy smoke.

I could understand why she snapped and let em all in. it was an emotional moment of weakness. and I could also understand why she was like let's get the f\*\*\* out of here but f*** man.

Was there any reason as to why Remmick is some irish vampire from a few hundred years ago it sounded like and why he had no other people he turned into vampires until that point seemingly? or how the f\*\*\* he even ended up in the south from ireland

Michael B Jordan is so good in this movie you legitimately forget he's only one guy

Best acting I’ve seen from him in a hot minute

I’m used to watching Power with my family which involves s***scenes and language so I’m just used to those awkward moments. Also, I closed my eyes during s***scenes until I was 18, so I understand.

He was being hunted from the beginning. The Choctaw homies got it.

On the Grace front the climactic set piece just doesn’t work, she seemed shackled by the writing and they just needed a script fix to get them inside. The action setpiece and the horror aspects are the weakest aspects of this movie but who cares bc it’s still perfect.

I’m hoping they at least keep some late night showings.

Also seen talks of WB re-releasing it later in the year maybe around Halloween or award season.

    Alright, I'll finally say it.

Given the themes of the film, does anyone else find it just a little bit contradictory having a white man from Sweden do the score?

Don't get me wrong, Ludwig did a phenomenal job and he's supremely talented. I love the score of the film. But it does take me out of the movie a bit when Delta Slim starts talking about how the blues is something African-Americans brought with them from home, or in that scene showing how the music can connect a people with their ancestors, knowing that a white dude from Sweden actually made the music that's playing rn. Would be cooler if it was from somebody that had more of connection to it.

In one piece of dialogue, Remmick says that his father was in Ireland before Christianity came to their land which was around 430 AD. Since the one of the overarching themes of the film seems to be culture-vulture/colonization I imagine Coogler attempted to layer that theme throughout the various characters-including Remmick and his ancestors. Also, if I recall correctly from history class, there was plenty of racism towards the Irish when they initially came to America in the 1700s. Safe to assume that's when he came over and experienced the rampant bigotry of the time-allowing him to empathize with the main characters.

Ive seen some interesting discussion that Remmick may have not been the true antagonist of the film- leaving that role to the KKK. He mentions that turning the living to vampires will bring true freedom to them and craves the cultural absorption Sammies abilities can provide. He even gives Michael B the tip that the KKK was scheming on the Juke Joint

My initial reaction was lookin at Grace sideways for letting them in but at the same time her daughters life was at risk and they probably didn't know how soon the sun was going to come up. somebody should've checked the time and waited it out :jordancry:

I should've seen it in imax first time but the 7:30 was sold out so i said f*** it went digital.

Digital theaters are so cooked with rude ass theater casuals on their phones and talking and s***

man, this. my theater experience for this was s***. they got concession workers as the ushers and the overall lack of professionalism is asinine

not to mention, im not sure how the job works for setting up movies to project, but it was so f***ing dark for certain scenes that i could barely make out the subjects faces

peep again in Imax. From the comments in here it looks like second viewing is just as good or better than the first
