All of his Coogler collabs have been his most notables roles, and everything else outside of that has been hit or miss

Saw the 70mm IMAX version yesterday as my third screening, definitely pretty great on the format
Why do movie posters always look harder in Japanese
Movie poster, Japan
Just saw this
S*** was tough! I haven't really been interested in much related to film recently but I left really happy I went to see this. Lots of interesting ideas that were pulled together in a beautiful and thought provoking way. Some nice depth to everything and I think the entire cast was great as well.

Same, this s*** really got me interested in watching films again, great film. Saw Thunderbolts and Flow after, both good films too
Finally saw this. Every single worker on this film cooked
and that music scene that incorporated past and modern scenes was a religious experience.
Incredible film, amazing concept and fantastic execution. MBJ my dog

I watched this with a couple white women completely separated from black culture, they just like horror movies, and man was it difficult trying to discuss the movie thematically with them afterwards lol
Like they thought the mixing future music/club scenes was cringe… are you kidding me that s*** was magical in every sense

Did they say precisely why they found it cringe? I had a small gripe with it but I think it was mainly the blocking/layout of the sequence and I think they could had done something a lot more interesting with the blending of the music from the different time periods which I think would have elevated it to another level. Within the context of the film and me thinking it was fantastic overall that's just me having a minor gripe.

Initially the abruptness of it took them out I guess, like when the electric guitar rockstar guy appeared, and then most cringe with the city-girl twerkers. I think it was on one hand partially not expecting the scene despite it having been mention his music can connect pasts/present/future, and on the other hand just not appreciating or understanding it.
For context these white women’s favorite artists are Swift and Kacey Musgroves and grew up in predominately white areas and have never really had much interaction with black people. Ironic considering how much modern music even swift and country is influenced by blues and black people.
But that was just one of their comments on one scene, they missed a lot of the thematics and symbolisms overall from not being acquainted much at all with black culture - musically/historically or in any way.
