Hmm i mean china really likes buying out debt actually. U know how I said china is devaluing its currency? Buying US debt is one way they do that.

As far as gold backing, it really doesn’t matter that much. It makes a currency more stable, sure, but the dollar is already really stable, so it doesn’t really challenge the US position in the foreign exchange market.

A note abt US debt to china: lets say u take out a loan. U pay it back in like a month and then a month later u come back for a loan. Again, u pay it back. The third time u go to take out a loan, the bank thinks “this guy has reliably paid us back every time he takes out a loan. If we increase the interest rate a little bit, we are basically guaranteed to make money.” U of course pay it back in about a month and then go back for a loan again. This continues for a year, and at the end of that year ur interest rates are crazy.

Now lets say in total u took out 100k over the year, right? If u had gone to the bank and just taken out a loan of 100k from the start, you might have gotten a 20% interest rate and owed 120k at the end of the year. Thats like 10k a month.

If u go with the month by month method, u might owe the bank 10k after the first month, but once they start raising the rates its gonna be more. At the end of the year u might only owe the bank like 18k for the last month, but over the year you have probably paid way more than 120k.

On the surface, being able to say “i only owe 18k” instead of being 120k in debt might look better. But once u consider that the 120k u owe at the end of the year is a lot less than what u would have paid back with the month by month method, it becomes clear that just taking out one big loan is the better option.

Essentially by not paying China back, the US is doing this. It looks bad, but its actually not as bad as people make it out to be.
