i love near the canadian border in US and a lot of canadians come to the US for healthcare so i can believe it

I think more important than insurance is just reducing the cost of healthcare in general and stopping the price gouging of big pharma but idk. I have co-workers that choose not to have insurance and these are people with good paying jobs where losing $100/month for insurance won't hurt them

Who told these delusional Americans that Europeans are “jealous” of them even now in 2020?

No place is perfect. There's benefits to living in America that my family in multiple European countries wish they had and there's benefits to living in Europe I wish I had. Neither place is some utopia

Isn't that his point? IPhone users blindly assume everyone not using an iPhone wishes they were when that's clearly not the case

iMessage is only popular in U.S
WhatsApp is popular by a wide margin in Europe

    I mean it's like...

You have a faster phone with a better camera and you have everything you need on your new Samsung Galaxy S20 but you are kinda jelous all those iPhone users are moving without a care in the world bc they're "iPhone gang"

The whole idea for this thread was that Europeans have it better in almost everything USA has but there's still that little thing were you actually wish you could have Hollywood LA NBA Movie stars and this type of s*** in Eu

Being an American isn't superior in any other area than just being a part of the biggest nation

    idk I'm just s***posting now

Yeah ngl before 2019 I wanted to move to USA and then I realized Europe is GOAT

Trump was great at making Americans believe even stronger that being American is a complement

And he made a great job at making europeans realize "being american" isn't really a complement

    Brand recognition/patriotism

Patrotism then most likely cause Samsung sells way more phones internationally and i think they overtook Apple by a bit in the US too

It varies from state to state in the US and country to country in Europe. Education in the US is much more expensive and in some European countries they will give you an allowance in addition to covering tuition. Depending kn the country though you can get pigeonholed into something by your school district based on an aptitude test when you’re 16 regardless on if its your true calling or anything. They’ll say “you have to be an engineer” or something to that effect for better or for worse. America really gives you the chance to figure out what you wanna do and where you wanna take yourself. There’s also a reason many people come from overseas to go to college in America despite the cost. Insurance is give or take. Taxes in europe are much higher. Sweden has really good coverage for people out of work but at the same token it can incentivize people to just not work and live of the very livable welfare they give out. All of my family in Europe says it’s much easier to start a business and purchase land in America. Most people in America are actually kinder and more likely to help you out. Every place you go has some kind of prejudice, Sweden hates non-scandanavian immigrants for example. There’s a lot to it, a lot of nuance.

There’s no reason for euro cacs to talk like they’re from NY or the south

    Never heard of that test.

Taxes are higher but thats the cost of a welfare state tho, which is very important for the weak and poor imo. Also, the infrastructure is better cause of those higher taxes.

I can def see the USA being a better and easier place for entrepeneurs.

The American people being more kind part is just something subjective i can't really judge. There are also 70 million people who voted for Trump, i doubt most of them are very open to minorities or refugees

A lot of my friends voted for Donald Trump (I didn't, some of those people that voted for him immigrated to America) and for most of them it really boiled down to feeling the democrats were shady and acted like they were better than everyone and donald trump said he wanted to better support small business and even though a bunch of huge corporations got tax cuts because of him but he helped out a ton of small businesses. I think the amount of people that are extreme right-wing and hateful to immigrants and such are a subset of the whole demographic of people that vote for Donald.

The expanded welfare is nice though, while I personally wouldn't want to pay for people to choose to sit around and do nothing like the issue Sweden has it would be nice to have a livable income if I choose to leave my job and dedicate myself to something else. There's no "perfect" answer to that critique imo.

As far as people being kinder there's more people willing to help you out. Obviously it varies from place to place but just randomly hitting someone up you don't know to help you find a job is easier in America and people are just more willing to help. A lot of people in America are more eager to help each other out and help each other advance. Discrimination against other people for race, gender, religion, etc is really inescapable in the world every country I've been to has it in one way or another.

I can def see entrepeneurs vote Republican, since taxes are probably lower, cause they're even more right wing than the democrats. But his percentage of black voters wasn't that high. And if his voters ain't racist, they still vote for someone who uses identity politics and racist rethoric tho. So they take that for granted cause of their own wallet, that's really bad imo

Those people who receive welfare in European countries usually don't just sit around. Yes, there are always people who do illegal stuff and/or misuse the system, but usually people have that income to buy basic needs and theres a duty to apply. You can't just do nothing

In Europe theres a real left wing and a wider center in politics. The whole political spectrum is available. And the welfare system actually shows solidarity for other people imo, while the USA seems more individual to me. So for me that wouldn't mean that people are more kind, but still: that's all subjective. And you're right, everywhere in the world theres discrimination.
