Common public transit L. They always tell you it's so much cheaper and then hit you with the cost overruns. Cancel this and turn whatever has been built so far a freight train line to recoup the wasted money. California needs to do a 180 where we review what government programs actually work and which ones have become nothing but big money pits.

america is a huge nation that is sparsely populated, it might make sense to build these for dense metro areas but i honestly dont see the point for anything beyond that, cars are the norm already and i doubt most people would prefer public transportation for long distances

its not transt its a usa L lmao its the auto mobile industry that created all the red tape, expenses and hassle that no other country has because they want to sell more vehicles needlessly and have a big cut in politics

its why usa is the biggest car country, in the 50s or 60s auto industry lobbied to hurt citizens and to take out trams that used to be in every mid size+ city which is why they only exist in very limited places and are mostly tourist attractions & more - and why we have dangerous roads & little walking areas which again is unique to us & part of why we have the most deaths n accidents regarding vehicles

it is literally an American problem because we let corps control politics especially before the 80s

and its why most places dont have trains and most places bus systems only work in one part of the city

While you are making a point this just isn't true in California. The problem here is corruption, budgetary inflation, contract underbidding, and honestly simple community opposition because whenever the government does these public-private partnerships, it's politicians and corporations that tend to win and the general public taking an L. All the political hurdles you are mentioning were supposed to be overcome by making this a referendum and the proponents said that the plan was shovel ready back in 2008 and it would only cost $30 billion and be open by 2019 lol. Opponents at the time said that it would cost $100 billion and we were being lied to about the timeline. So in the end who was right?

All I see is a big money pit in the middle of nowhere that hasn't benefitted anyone in California so far and now they want even more which is unbelievable. Imagine if a private company got away with scamming people the way our government does every day, you would never hear the end of it especially on this site.

we also have the one of the highest pedestrian fatality rates because too many people have been brainwashed into buying excessive bullshit like this as a "family vehicle"

Yeah but mostly because Dallas sucks. If you were in Houston why would you even want to get to Dallas
