I LOVED it. I get why people want Usher to be more like Maxwell at this point of his career because he could pull it off BUT....he’s always been an ambassador for the A like you mentioned. “A” full of gems and Peace Sign on of my favorite songs by him ever.

Will all the people who s*** on Weeknd and bigged up Usher listen? We'll find out soon

I love Peace Sign. Say What You Want is my fave from A.
I never blame Usher for repping the A and playing with more current trends because he can, and it's always worked well for him. With RvR and L4M he still did R&B, but had some pop song which became some of the biggest hits of his career and gave him that solid comeback after the Tameka fiasco. Then with I Don't Mind he went #11 with no promo at all. No Limit was trap leaning, but got him another top 40. His song Party with Chris was the biggest hit off HBOAFM. His song with Summer was the second biggest hit off her album, and if pushed more it would've gotten him another top 40 (peaked at 42).
He knows what to do to keep the hits coming, so even with people being frustrated with him dabbling in and out, he's proven it works for him. I'm glad he's working with JD and B Cox cuz I feel like he'll have some solid hits, but also have the classic R&B sound fans want from him.
It's this song right here. From 0 - :14 seconds

I love You Decide too. The only song I didn't like as the Birthday song, which is still catchy lol

Birthday flames man, “A” doesn’t have one bad song on it

Ngl I don't like a lot of cussing in R&B, but listening to this Bad Habits snippet again
Idk how but he makes it sound smooth. Not hard and forced like it did on some songs on H2L. It reminds me of FWM for whatever reason. It's more pop leaning, but works. And the melody "baaad at it.... baaaad habits" with the 3 part harmony is just

I’m gonna have to run through H2L again, the only songs that I can think of are Let Me, Rivals that and FWM has excessive cussing.
I see what you mean with the FWM comparison
Is it confirmed to drop tonight since it’s not a traditional Friday release?

Yea video coming midnight
The lack of engagement on that twitter announcement
he usually makes 0 noise until the music actually comes out. that's when it really matters
i think he's gonna just drop it and move on. he's been barely promoting his music for the past 5 years. he doesn't really care about charts and sales at this point in his career. makes sense, he's in his 4th decade
Hope this is good but it sounds like it’s just gonna be another No Limit
No Limit was catchy af. Not everything has to be Climax or Burn
I actually liked it. It wasn't a masterpiece or anything, but it was him just having fun. I know most people hated it cuz he was 40 doing trap, but to me it felt like he was continuing the current Atlanta sound like he's been doing since 2004. And like I said, he deserves to just have fun now. There's no need for every project to be a innovative boundary-pushing work of art lol
I hated A when it dropped but I've grown to enjoy it. Not the entire project but I find myself going back to
ATA

The thing with Usher is from 1997-2012, he had 6 albums in a row with very high highs and some revolutionary tracks.
The issue is that everytime he drops, there's gonna be this expectation of it being innovative and some amazing work of art when no one gives a 10/10 every single time. That's the only downside to having such a great career. Same thing happened with Mariah unfortunately.

The standard is so high which is why they gotta have no room for error

I'd be scared to release music after Confessions tbh. But like I said, his highs are really high, so hopefully he has a lot with this album/era
