Usher is a consummate entertainer of the highest tier.. he also has enough hits and well known tunes to rock the Super Bowl stage.. if the West Coast hip hop collective can get off 8-12 smackers from a niche listening base like 90s/00s hip hop, Usher should be fine.. The catalog is certified and he’s a great performer. He’d be a great candidate!

I agree to a certain extent.. wouldn’t call it bedroom music per say, but as a traditional RnB artist his records are bit ‘demure’ sounding, but I think he has enough hits to structure a nice set list around his main records.. based on his residency he does a great job of injecting the energy needed to keep the intensity as grand as the Super Bowl..
Who else would you offer this year as an alternative ?

The Weeknd did well though because he didn’t really have to perform for a stadium. He took the stage during covid and when there was barely an audience. Look at his performance and it often feels more like a music video or a Grammys performance than it does a stadium performance.

For the Super Bowl, you expect anthems. Ushers stuff is like bedroom music besides his corny electro pop radio bait
