Yo I didn't even know this s*** existed until like 2 weeks ago
I'm kinda tempted to get one of these
feel like ive got this setup it just took a damn long time (still configuring things ofc). my ally acts like a switch but for my desktop (and remote plays). most games I run at 7-15w even diablo 4 (40 fps vrr handheld, 60 fps docked).
here's a video of my setup from boot to playing a few games, (pc games installed locally, emulator games stored on local server) . while docked all this is controlled via either a dualshock 3 bluetooth, or wireless xbox controller via xbox adapter. don't know why diablo 4 didn't record at the end but gives you a sense of my launcher HUB.

ill take: the high windows memory footprint (wish it had total 22 gb so we could do 6gb video memory, 16gb system memory), and the slightly worse battery performance.
for the better screen, and windows os which just works better for current and past compatibility of pc games.
Any tips on low/auto TDP?
I’ve set a custom 18w profile which is nice but if I’m playing ps2/indies I don’t need much power

i have a 7watt profile. every game I put on the absolute lowest graphics settings and see how playable the game is on this profile(fyi hard locks may happen at this low wattage). I tweak settings from there, if the game runs great I up the graphic settings, if the game runs horrible I increase tdp.
I tweak these until I find an acceptable level of performance, visuals, and tdp. i refuse to play on battery at anything above 15watts. not only will it eat the battery but the device gets too hot to handle.
sure i might be playing aew fighter forever on 720p, low everything except high textures, but its running on the 10watt profile :yeshrug:
ill take that over 15watt profile, native 1080p.

Thanks. Do you create the profile in armoury crate?
Is it a general 7w manual mode config? What’s the fan curve look like on a 7w set up

unfortunately I have to configure the tdp profiles in armoury crate, and then configure ac/dc tdp in game profiles. my fan curves are probably a little overzealous but i prefer a colder to the touch device with slightly more fan noise. fan1 peaks faster because its closer to the apu
