what have you enjoyed on it so far? for steam deck I mostly maxed out at ps3 level games.

z1e i was able to push it to ps4 era games.

z1x I am comfortably playing anything I throw at it (with appropriate gfx settings)

this is just what I was comfortable playing on their respective battery level ranges.

docking the z1e/x is nearly at a level I am tempted to use as main gaming pc.

I've been playing V Rising on it lol

How good is the steam deck? I wanna play folon, starfield, Elden Ring

Absolutely wonderful! I play almost every night before bed. It’s such a versatile piece of tech imo. I can’t compare it to other handhelds though as I haven’t used any others except switch.

It’s really good. It struggles now with newer AAA titles but can still run most of them.

The OLED is the best on the market for a number of things.

The other option is the Rog Ally X which is Windows so has no limitations but it’s not as “smooth” to use because there’s no optimisation to adapt to the handheld experience. It’s more powerful too.

I think if you play Fortnite or anti cheat games, get the ally X. Anything else is an OLED Steam Deck imo

Considering the 512GB model was $529 at launch, this is a crazy deal

It's pretty good. COD on Gamepass is cool, first cod I've played in years and it's running well

SteamOS is still so much better

Got used to playing FFXIV on the steam deck after playing it with KB+M for years and this s*** is amazing. all the tedious chores don't feel tedious anymore now that I can grind away on my couch or in bed. I'm looking for other online multiplayer games that run well if anyone has recommendations. Been playing rocket league again and it's pretty fun.

How are you finding the X?

So good. The killswitch alleviates most issues I had with the ergonomics update in the X. Just need rewasd to get patched to support ally x. Then It'll be the most impressive device in the house.

i hate this decky loader every time i use my deck it’s disappears and i go to reinstall and it never lets me put it my sudo password which i literally don’t remember each time

type in "sudo passwd root" then enter current pw, then can reset teh root pw

The steam deck is good but monitor your expectations for the big games like this.

Starfield I hear drops into the lower 20s at times

Elden can run 30fps locked

im running on a linux pc with a 7 year old bottom tier card and i was able to run space marine 2 on launch with low settings

as nuja said, set expectations, dont expect perfection for AAA, but most will still run

Yeah unless you absolutely just want the handheld experience for a game like Elden if you can play it else where it’s much better. I feel the same way about cyberpunk. It’s very playable on steam deck but I’d much rather just play on my laptop that can run it at above 60fps
