Unfortunately "competitive games" breed this energy

More lighthearted multiplayer games like Battlebit, TF2, etc. push for more silly and casual gameplay because they're designed around it. I think Deadlock is just going to be DotA w/ Guns in terms of how they want to market it since Icefrog is spearheading it

Really sad honestly. I still wish they'd make Team Fortress 3. No ranked, just an actual working matchmaking system and a server browser that's at least lightly moderated. Let the community host their competitive events and ladders and just support them.

Feels crazy how competitive people already get in this alpha phase. Not as toxic as dota but definitely laying the groundwork.

Maybe this is just me being old but I'd honestly appreciate if valve do not let as much fly in this game as they do with dota.

Yea, but I don't think multiplayer games where its red vs blue exist in a casual space anymore. Like in Dota 2 for example, your supposed to play pubs to try new things, experiment, goof off, whatever, but people will report and scream at you in that same game for not playing like youre in ranked.

I understand the competitive nature of sports, I am just saying there needs to be a time and a place to turn it on and turn it off.

I dont mean any disrespect here but you werent outside when that beta was popping. it was straight up horrible. I played with a stack that I used to play competitive tf2 with and they would turn into different people when playing dota. it was before ranked too

that community has been historically awful, its roots are in modding community which already implies its non-casual players who are most often involved in it

Oh I know Dota. Dota made me hate my friends. I finally decided the game was too f***ing toxic and swore it off. I played back in the TI4-TI8 era, close to 2000 hours.

from my pov it seems like they’re stretching themselves thin with some of the characters. obviously there’s some really great ones, but some just feel unnecessary. maybe i’m just too old but i miss how tight TF2 was during its golden era
